Red Wood

Western Red Cedar

The most logical choice for a building material when selecting an outdoor structure is western red cedar.  Cedar as it is commonly known for, is resistant it the side effects of the weather and being outside.  It naturally does not rot easily and a natural resistant barrier to insects.  When left in its natural state a cedar pergola will have a light brownish red tone when new, and turn a light grey tone as it ages.  Many outdoor enthusiasts love the natural look of cedar pergolas, gazebos and garden sheds, while others want to seal it with a water based sealer to keep its new look.  By sealing a cedar gazebo with this type of product, you are literally staining the item in a full range of colors and add to its overall longevity of the structure.

When considering a quality prefab cedar shed kit, make sure that it comes with everything that is needed to put the kit together.  Secondly, ask the manufacture or the retailer that you are ordering the cedar shed kit from if it is easy to locate all the different parts and are they cut to size.  Some discount shed kits, are cut to rough sizes and on location the home owner will have to do finial cuts to construct the piece.  This will add to the time it will take to install and the quality of the end  product can drop depending on the skill level of the home owner.
